(Photo by Maryorin Mendez \/ AFP via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>OAN Staff\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/tag\/katherine-mosack\">Katherine Mosack<\/a><br \/>1:20 PM \u2013 Saturday, March 14, 2026<\/p>\n<p>The United States Embassy in Caracas has raised the American flag for the first time in exactly 7 years after the Trump administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/newsroom\/trump-maduro-captured-by-the-u-s-after-a-large-scale-strike\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/newsroom\/trump-maduro-captured-by-the-u-s-after-a-large-scale-strike\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">captured former Venezuelan President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro<\/a> and former First Lady Cilia Flores, who await trial for narco-terrorism in New York.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cOn the morning of March 14, 2019, the American flag was lowered for the last time at the United States Embassy in Caracas,\u201d U.S. Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires to Venezuela Laura F. Dogu on the embassy\u2019s X on Saturday morning. \u201cThis morning, March 14, 2026, at the same hour, my team and I raised the United States flag\u2014exactly seven years after it was removed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA new era has begun for relations between the United States and Venezuela,\u201d she declared. \u201cWe\u2019re staying with Venezuela.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The post attached a picture of Dogu with U.S. service members who saluted as she raised the stars and stripes.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>In another post she added, \u201cOnward with Venezuela.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"\/>\n<p>The U.S. pulled all remaining personnel from its embassy in Venezuela in 2019 due to a \u201cdeteriorating situation,\u201d according to then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, amid political unrest. Maduro had cut off diplomatic relations with the U.S. after President Donald Trump officially recognized his opposition leader, Juan Guaid\u00f3, as Venezuela\u2019s interim president and rejected Maduro\u2019s legitimacy.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote data-service=\"twitter\" data-category=\"marketing\" data-placeholder-image=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/complianz-gdpr\/assets\/images\/placeholders\/twitter-minimal.jpg\" class=\"cmplz-placeholder-element twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The U.S. will withdraw all remaining personnel from <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/usembassyve?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@usembassyve<\/a> this week. This decision reflects the deteriorating situation in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Venezuela?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Venezuela<\/a> as well as the conclusion that the presence of U.S. diplomatic staff at the embassy has become a constraint on U.S. policy.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Secretary Pompeo (@SecPompeo) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SecPompeo\/status\/1105314978393923586?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 12, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Years later, Trump\u2019s administration launched Operation Absolute Resolve, striking Caracas overnight in early January and successfully extracting the country\u2019s socialist dictator with no American lives lost.<\/p>\n<p>Maduro\u2019s vice president, Delcy Rodr\u00edguez, has since filled in as the country\u2019s interim president and agreed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/newsroom\/u-s-state-department-american-venezuelan-diplomatic-consular-relations-have-been-reestablished\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/newsroom\/u-s-state-department-american-venezuelan-diplomatic-consular-relations-have-been-reestablished\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reestablish diplomatic relations<\/a> with the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the Department of State (DOS) stated that the agreement with the interim government will \u201cpromote stability, support economic recovery, and advance political reconciliation in Venezuela.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cOur engagement is focused on helping the Venezuelan people move forward through a phased process that creates the conditions for a peaceful transition to a democratically elected government,\u201d the department said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/releases\/office-of-the-spokesperson\/2026\/03\/a-statement-on-u-s-venezuela-relations\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/releases\/office-of-the-spokesperson\/2026\/03\/a-statement-on-u-s-venezuela-relations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">media note<\/a>. \u201cThe United States remains committed to supporting the Venezuelan people and working with partners across the region to advance stability and prosperity.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump asserted that Rodr\u00edguez was a leader who would \u201cmake Venezuela great again,\u201d in a callback to his famous campaign slogan.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Though he had originally warned of a second wave of strikes on the capital city, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/newsroom\/trump-cancels-second-wave-of-attacks-on-venezuela-amid-cooperation-with-the-u-s\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/newsroom\/trump-cancels-second-wave-of-attacks-on-venezuela-amid-cooperation-with-the-u-s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">called it off<\/a> when Rodr\u00edguez\u2019s team cooperated with the U.S. Trump said that she was \u201cdoing a great job, and working with U.S. Representatives very well,\u201d a comment that the interim leader thanked him for.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote data-service=\"twitter\" data-category=\"marketing\" data-placeholder-image=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/complianz-gdpr\/assets\/images\/placeholders\/twitter-minimal.jpg\" class=\"cmplz-placeholder-element twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Agradezco al Presidente <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDonaldTrump?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@realDonaldTrump<\/a> la amable disposici\u00f3n de su gobierno para trabajar conjuntamente en una agenda que fortalezca la cooperaci\u00f3n binacional en beneficio de los pueblos de Estados Unidos y Venezuela. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Fh903XT1BO\">https:\/\/t.co\/Fh903XT1BO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Delcy Rodr\u00edguez (@delcyrodriguezv) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/delcyrodriguezv\/status\/2029303103980245356?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 4, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Stay informed!
