Giuliani served as a personal attorney and informal adviser to President Donald Trump.<\/span><span lang=\"IT\" data-ogsb=\"white\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">On April 28, 2021, at approximately 6 a.m., federal agents <\/span><a title=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/04\/28\/federal-agents-raid-rudy-giulianis-nyc-apartment\/\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/04\/28\/federal-agents-raid-rudy-giulianis-nyc-apartment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"2\" data-ogsc=\"\"><span data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"white\">executed search warrants<\/span><\/a><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\"> at Giuliani\u2019s Manhattan apartment and his office, seizing his cellphone and other electronic devices. Agents reportedly seized additional materials, including a computer used by longtime assistant Jo Ann Zafonte.<\/span><span lang=\"IT\" data-ogsb=\"white\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">Judicial Watch filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia after the Justice Department failed to respond to a February 2026 FOIA request. The request, which included a signed certification of identity from Giuliani himself, seeks all records related to the April 2021 search warrants, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">Warrant applications, affidavits, attachments, draft versions, and approval memoranda;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">Supervisory and Main Justice approvals;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">Attorney search approvals under Justice Manual guidelines;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">Records concerning privilege review, \u201ctaint team\u201d procedures, privilege determinations, and any special master involvement;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">Coordination with the FBI and the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Southern District of New York; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">Emails, memoranda, briefing materials, and other communications outside formal case files discussing Giuliani, the raids, or the underlying investigation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span data-ogsb=\"white\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">According to public reports, <\/span><a title=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/04\/28\/rudy-giuliani-responds-to-feds-raiding-his-nyc-apartment\/\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/04\/28\/rudy-giuliani-responds-to-feds-raiding-his-nyc-apartment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"3\" data-ogsc=\"\"><span data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"white\">the raid was tied<\/span><\/a><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\"> to an investigation into whether Giuliani <\/span><a title=\"https:\/\/www.justsecurity.org\/76075\/giulianis-fara-problem\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justsecurity.org\/76075\/giulianis-fara-problem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"4\" data-ogsc=\"\"><span data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"white\">violated<\/span><\/a><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\"> the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) in connection with his activities involving Ukrainian officials while he was seeking information related to Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">Giuliani\u2019s then-attorney Robert Costello <\/span><a title=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/21\/us-news\/rudy-giulianis-lawyer-tells-pod-force-one-fbi-didnt-want-to-touch-hunter-bidens-laptop-during-home-raid-radioactive\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/21\/us-news\/rudy-giulianis-lawyer-tells-pod-force-one-fbi-didnt-want-to-touch-hunter-bidens-laptop-during-home-raid-radioactive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"5\" data-ogsc=\"\"><span data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"white\">noted<\/span><\/a><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\"> that federal agents ignored Hunter Biden\u2019s computer hard drives when they raided the apartment, contradicting the order on the warrant \u201cto seize every electronic device in his home.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">\u201cThe Biden DOJ\u2019s pre-dawn raid on Rudy Giuliani was a textbook example of weaponized justice \u2014 targeting a loyal advocate of President Trump\u2019s while agents deliberately ignored Hunter Biden\u2019s hard drives sitting in the same apartment,\u201d said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. \u201cThis selective enforcement exposes a corrupt two-tiered system.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">Judicial Watch is a national leader in exposing the lawfare and abuse targeting Trump and other American citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">In April 2026, Judicial Watch <\/span><a title=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/fbi-objections-to-mar-a-lago-raid\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/fbi-objections-to-mar-a-lago-raid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"6\" data-ogsc=\"\"><span data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"white\">obtained<\/span><\/a><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\"> records that revealed the FBI\u2019s concerns about the legal basis for the 2022 raid of Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago home.
