{"id":6235,"date":"2026-04-14T07:04:04","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T07:04:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/conservative-politics.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/14\/judge-tosses-trump-lawsuit-against-wall-street-journal-over-epstein-card-but-president-says-its-not-over\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T07:04:04","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T07:04:04","slug":"judge-tosses-trump-lawsuit-against-wall-street-journal-over-epstein-card-but-president-says-its-not-over","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/conservative-politics.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/14\/judge-tosses-trump-lawsuit-against-wall-street-journal-over-epstein-card-but-president-says-its-not-over\/","title":{"rendered":"Judge tosses Trump lawsuit against Wall Street Journal over Epstein card \u2014 but president says it&#8217;s not over"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>President Donald Trump said he will refile his &#8220;powerful case&#8221; against the Wall Street Journal over a report related to Jeffrey Epstein after a judge tossed out the first filing Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The report claimed that the president sent a &#8220;bawdy&#8221; greeting card to Epstein in 2003 for his 50th birthday and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/nation\/see-epsteins-full-birthday-book-with-alleged-personal-messages-from-trump-clinton-and-others\" target=\"_blank\">published<\/a> an image of what it said was the handwritten message in July 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"pull-quote\">&#8216;Our powerful case against The Wall Street Journal, and other defendants, was asked to be re-filed by the Judge.&#8217; <\/p>\n<p>Trump has vehemently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/news\/hatchet-job-leavitt-sets-record-straight-on-trumps-alleged-epstein-birthday-letter\" target=\"_blank\">denied<\/a> that he wrote the greeting and sued the Journal for $10 billion over the story.<\/p>\n<p>Federal Judge Darrin Gayles dismissed the lawsuit because the president had &#8220;not plausibly alleged that the Defendants published the Article with actual malice.&#8221; However, he allowed for Trump to refile the case and gave a deadline for the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p>Gayles noted that the Journal had contacted Trump, officials from the Justice Dept., and the FBI for comment prior to publishing and had included a statement from the president.<\/p>\n<p>The president said he would refile in a <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116398354806956903\" target=\"_blank\">statement<\/a> on Truth Social.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our powerful case against The Wall Street Journal, and other defendants, was asked to be re-filed by the Judge,&#8221; he wrote. &#8220;It is not a termination, it is a suggested re-filing, and we will be, as per the Order, re-filing an updated lawsuit on or before April 27th.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the Journal&#8217;s publisher, Dow Jones &amp; Co., said in a statement that the publisher was &#8220;pleased&#8221; with the decision to dismiss.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We stand behind the reliability, rigor, and accuracy of the Wall Street Journal&#8217;s reporting,&#8221; the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/news\/trump-epstein-wsj-note-lawsuit\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Trump denies report of letter and drawing sent to Jeffrey Epstein on his 50th birthday, threatens to sue Wall Street Journal<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"shortcode-media shortcode-media-youtube\"> <span style=\"display:block;position:relative;padding-top:56.25%;\" class=\"rm-shortcode\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"28104074e86fab5dfa3ea2643436548a\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"CMPDxkVBYgs\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Federal judge tosses Trump\u2019s defamation lawsuit against Wall Street Journal over Epstein letter\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CMPDxkVBYgs?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the president&#8217;s legal team also released a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;President Trump will follow Judge Gayles&#8217; ruling and guidance to refile this powerhouse lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal and all of the other Defendants,&#8221; the spokesman said.<\/p>\n<p><span\/>&#8220;The President will continue to hold accountable those who traffic in Fake News to mislead the American people,&#8221; the spokesman added.<\/p>\n<p>If Trump indeed sent the card, it would have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/news\/trump-epstein-wsj-note-lawsuit\" target=\"_blank\">before<\/a> Epstein was officially investigated on charges of sexual assault against minors in 2006 and his 2008 conviction.<\/p>\n<p><em><em>Like Blaze News?
