President Donald Trump said the Iran conflict is \u201cvery close to over,\u201d expressing optimism that a diplomatic resolution could be reached amid a two-week ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran. <\/a><\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Trump expressed during an interview on \u201cMornings with Maria\u201d with Fox Business <\/em>anchor Maria Bartiromo that peace in the Middle East may be closer than we think. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think its close to over, yeah. I view it as very close to over,\u201d he told Bartiromo. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

Despite the lack of a breakthrough<\/a> at last weekend\u2019s peace talks led by Vice President JD Vance and a team of U.S. diplomats<\/a> discussing issues regarding Tehran\u2019s nuclear program and enrichment plans, negotiations are set to restart on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I pulled up stakes right now, it would take them 20 years to rebuild that country. And we\u2019re not finished,\u201d Trump said. \u201cWe\u2019ll see what happens. I think they want to make a deal very badly.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The president said the U.S. operation, dubbed \u201cOperation Epic Fury,\u201d was necessary to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons capabilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to divert because if I didn\u2019t do that, right now, you\u2019d have Iran with a nuclear weapon,\u201d Trump said. \u201cAnd if they had a nuclear weapon, you\u2019d be calling everybody over there \u2018sir,\u2019 and you don\u2019t want to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Trump also emphasized that oil prices \u2013 which have soared recently due to supply disruptions<\/a> \u2013 would soon fall back down, predicting that as soon as the conflict subsides the \u201cstock market is going to boom, it\u2019s already booming.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Monday, Vance commented that despite the lack of agreement, U.S. officials and Iranian officials had made \u201ca lot of progress\u201d during their meeting. He claimed that what happens next in the conflict ultimately rests in Iran\u2019s hands.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cThe ball is very much in their court. You ask what happens next, I think\u00a0the Iranians\u00a0are going to determine what happens next,\u201d Vance told Fox News. <\/em><\/p>\n
