In an announcement from the nation’s capital, Freedom 250 has unveiled plans for the “Great American State Fair,” a massive 16-day exposition set to transform the National Mall into a vibrant tapestry of American culture, industry, and history.
Running from June 25th through July 10, 2026, the event serves as the centerpiece of the United States’ semiquincentennial celebrations.
Stretching the expanse between the U.S. Capitol and the Washington Monument, the fair is reportedly modeled after the grand World’s Fairs of the 19th century.
It aims to unite the country through a shared showcase of ingenuity and national pride.
The fair will feature pavilions representing all 56 U.S. states and territories, each curated to highlight regional heritage and unique contributions to the American story. Visitors can expect an immersive “coast-to-coast” experience, ranging from Maine lobster rolls and Texas-sized steaks to Hawaiian hula performances and Alaskan ice carvings.
Beyond the culinary and cultural displays, the Mall will also host iconic attractions such as a 110-foot Ferris wheel and the Smithsonian’s National Carousel, alongside traditional fair elements like livestock competitions and a national talent show.
The 16-day schedule is structured around distinct daily themes designed to honor various pillars of American life.
Some “highlights” include “Military & Veterans Appreciation Day” on June 28th, “Wings of Freedom” on July 3rd, and “The Next 250” on the final day, which will focus on future frontiers in artificial intelligence, robotics, and space propulsion.
Independence Day will serve as the fair’s peak, featuring extended hours until midnight, a keynote address by President Donald Trump, and what organizers describe as the largest pyrotechnics display in world history.
Freedom 250 CEO Keith Krach emphasized that the event is intended to celebrate the “perseverance and pride” that define the American character.
Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum also echoed this sentiment, noting that the National Mall will serve as the ultimate stage for telling the nation’s story under the leadership of the Salute to America 250 Task Force.
While admission to the Great American State Fair is free to the public, organizers are encouraging advanced registration due to the anticipated arrival of millions of visitors from across the globe.
